The Italian nun arrived in Malta early this afternoon. The concert – Natale Con Suor Cristina – which was sold out some two weeks ago, will be held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta.

Asked by The Malta Independent whether she donates the funds she receives for her performances, she said that in the case of the Malta show, the funds will go towards Caritas Malta but as a rule she supports poor children in Brazil’s São Paulo.

Sister Scuccia became a novice in 2009 and worked for two years with poor children in Brazil before formally joining the Ursuline Order. In the years between 2009 and 2011, Sister Cristina improved her artistic dowries by performing in the ‘Star Rose Academy’ in Rome, created and directed by Maximo de Marco. Her singing teacher was singer-songwriter Franco Simone. Her TV debut was in June 2012, on the programme Dizionario dei sentimenti on Gold TV in Rome.

In 2014, Sister Scuccia participated in the Voice of Italy singing competition, singing for her audition ‘No One’ by Alicia Keys. The performance received more than 70 million views and is the most watched The Voice video on Youtube. She was very popular with the audience and all four judges, including Raffaella Carra.
