On the 7th April 2019, The Dance Workshop will be presenting its annual production, The Kingdom of Flowers, which will once again be held at The Mediterranean Conference Centre, Valletta. This performance is a very special one as it marks the 20th anniversary as a dance school and the 20th annual dance performance. Over the past two decades, this performance has become a regular event on Malta’s artistic calendar, attracting theatre-goers from all spheres of life.

As in previous years, a new children’s ballet is being devised for the first half of the performance. Here, the school’s budding dancers will be given the opportunity to grace the stage and to show what they have learnt throughout the year. During this original, one act ballet, the choreographers will bring to life the mischievous character of the most famous fairy, Tinkerbell and all her fairy friends. Throughout the second half of the programme, all the choreography will be based on flowers, with a special emphasis on meanings and the language of flowers. This part of the performance has always been a wonderful showcase of the high standard attained by The Dance Workshop’s senior dancers. The resident choreographers include amongst others, Douglas Comley, Sara Accetura and Jade Farrugia (Contemporary Dance), Pamela Kerr and Francesca Bartolo (Classical Ballet), Diane Portelli and Claire Cassola (Modern Dance), Sue Vassallo (Hip Hop) and Bettina von Brockdorff (Spanish Dance). For this special performance, this year, there will also be guest dancers from Ateneo Danza (Italy) under the direction of Miss Stefania Sansavini, as well as ex-students of The Dance Workshop, who are now professional dancers with ZfinMalta
