The 23rd edition of the Malta International Choir Festival will be held between the 2nd and 5th November, 2017.
The Festival is a mainstay in the Maltese musical calendar and is very much anticipated by all music lovers of the genre. Thirty-Six choirs will be participating in various ways. These hail from 19 different countries from all over the world.
The festival runs over four days. Some of the highlights of the festival are :
SINGING AND PRAYING FOR PEACE – Thursday November 2 at St John’s Co-Cathedral. SECULAR and SACRED MUSIC COMPETITIONS – Thursday Nov 2 until Saturday Nov 4 at the Catholic Institute and the Floriana Parish Church. CHORAL ETHNIC SOUNDS CONCERT – Friday, November 3 at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, Valletta. THE FESTIVAL CONCERT – Saturday November 4 at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, Valletta. SINGING in the CITY – Concerts held at City Gate, Valletta from Wednesday Nov 1 until Saturday, November 4. SINGING DURING SUNDAY MASS – various churches all over Malta GRAND PRIX FINALE – Sunday, November 5 at the Catholic Institute, Floriana
Another important aspect of the festival is the pedagogical part which takes place in the form of workshops or masterclasses for the choirs themselves.
